Mona Schietekat (1994) is a visual artist based in Ghent, Belgium. Her work exists of various media ranging from drawings to sculptural pieces, found and modified objects, printmaking and language. Each exhibition is a piece in itself, created from the perspective of a given situation (a space, idea, etc.). Schietekat tries to create narrative installations and compositions, where the arrangement of the objects stages a dialogue between them. The core of the action is to produce a state of being, thinking, feeling, moving, and also to produce joy. It calls for an certain way of looking at things, a curious observation, which has not already been directed in a certain direction. All the objects, sculptures, drawings and paintings are treated equally as material to create different compositions. The works are interchangeable and the medium changes depending on the project and space.
